Man Hair Loss
For many people, the idea of a hair transplant is not as uncomfortable as it might have been some years ago as many improvements have been taken to improve the technique. A benefit of current procedures is that you can not always tell when someone has undergone one because their bad hair plugs are not obvious. Yet, many people continue to not know some facts about the process.
For men over 50, baldness is a serious issue. One alternative men decide to try to deal with their hair loss is the option of shaving their heads entirely. Some prefer the option of going with a hair transplant procedure. Though those that accept their baldness may have a healthy outlook, they are out of step with what the rest of society is doing to combat hair loss.
The procedure is permanent: If you decide you do not like the results, it is not as simple as taking off a wig to change your hair. Many surgical procedures are necessary, and your head will never look the same. The hair transplant surgery is not a procedure you can try out on a “see if you like it basis,” and you should be wary of any doctor that promises a trial basis.
You might think that because the surgery is so easy to bear that you can just jump back into your activities, but the truth is, you’ll need plenty of rest after hair transplant surgery. A person might shrug off the need to rest because it is “just their scalp,” and not muscle and bone. Truthfully, you’ll have many post-surgery wounds afterward which will need to be protected.
Hair transplant surgery can be a time-consuming commitment: Treatment can often last one to two years. There are mega-sessions where thousands of grafts are done in one sitting to help reduce that amount of overall time. This, of course, requires a lot of time and is demanding in and of itself.
Along with hair transplant surgery, you may have to have other treatments so if you do not have enough hair, you cannot undergo the normal treatment. In order to obtain the desired results, other procedures can be done at the same time. Patients should beware that these types of procedures generally cause more discomfort.
It is unlikely that your surgeon will share with you the fact that not all grafts survive. The hope is that only a few will be lost and the overall result will not suffer. Unfortunately, many grafts do not survive, despite all concentrated efforts.
A reasonable amount to spend is 12,000 dollars. If you die at age 70 after having the procedure done for 40 years, then your average cost for the treatment would be 25 dollars per month, or 300 per year. Though many people tend to go with the low cost treatments, these will cost you much more than 25 dollars per month. As you can see, it would actually be much more affordable to have the surgery done.
